My fever. My high blood pressure. My cancer. My poverty. My lack. My, my, my. If you want to claim that stuff, go ahead. But I’m certainly not going to! If we could just understand how important our words are.
Jesus said in Mark 11:23-24 “For assuredly I say unto you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. Therefore I say unto you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Whoever says. Our words are powerful. Our words are creative. Proverbs 18:20-21 say, “A man’s stomach shall be satisfied with the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat it’s fruit.” What comes out of our mouth directly affects how we will live. If we speak death, doubt, and unbelief; we will eat that fruit. If we dwell on the promises of God. If we speak life, healing, belief; we will eat that fruit. God has so much goodness in store for His children. If we could only comprehend the good things He has laid up for us!
Joshua 1:8 says “This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.” There is a reason we are instructed to meditate on God’s word. If we meditate on it, what do you think will come out of our mouths when the cares of this life start to squeeze? Yep. The Word. And the Word brings life.
Here are some gems to keep on the tip of your tongue:
Isaiah 40:31 “But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
Philippians 4:19 “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
Romans 8:37 “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Proverbs 1:33 “But whoever listens to me will dwell safely, and will be secure, without fear of evil.”
Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep Him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.”
